From the old lens of the original pink shutter:

“If attacked, a lionfish delivers a potent venom via its needle-like dorsal fins.” - [More about the lion fish.]. Photo taken from the Manila Ocean Park.

Tags: dancing flowers
I went to visit my dad in his office the other day and found these two on my dad’s windowsill…

I found them amusing — seeing them “dancing” (actually, more like bobbing up and down) and making use of what limited amount sunshine their solar cells could absorb — and refreshing because hardly any flowering plant can survive in dad’s almost sub-zero office (okay, maybe it’s not That cold…) and mostly because it was highly unlikely of my dad to keep such things in his office.
Hmm…yeah~ maybe you can’t really smell these two. ^__^

The real reason why he escaped the Malfoys… to model, of course.
Dhoris and I passed by this store in Greenbelt 5 (3rd floor) and saw the loved/hated Harry Potter house elf Dobby standing mightly on top of a glass shelf inside a store that sells gadgets. Maybe he’s guarding the store? New gig?
The statue looked eeriely real, like he’ll suddenly jump off and move. We didn’t go in, so we’re not sure what it was made of .
I hope you see him there, too!

Whenever my friend Kei comes back home from Japan for a short vacation, we always get together and visiting her includes meeting her new dolls. Kei had started collecting ball-jointed dolls the past year and I have to admit, they scare me back then even though they all look absolutely beautiful. They look eerily perfect that sometimes I feel they’ll just move on their own. And I don’t like moving dolls that look like children who were cursed to be dolls. *imagination goes haywire*

His name is Rince after Rincewind the Wizzard, a character in the Discworld novels of Terry Pratchett. He is Kei’s first doll and the one she always keeps around. First time I met the little one, he was wearing cat ears and even had a tail! He was just standing on her bookcase, smiling, but I can’t event touch him. Rince is a unique, poseable doll that can even stand on one foot and in angles. He’s smaller than the usual dolls of his type and is of the LittleFee line from Doll Fairy Land. Because of Kei frequently forwarding websites and pictures of the dolls she likes, I’ve come to appreciate them, and understand the dedication that this hobby requires - from the outfits to the eye lashes and makeup - each doll has a character. People who collect them and take care of them are passionate because it’s no simple collection. Well, Kei’s like that and I can see the happiness that these beautiful creatures bring to her that I actually want one now. =)

When you live in a tropical country, snow is something you just don’t experience. All we have everyday is sun, water, more sun, more water…a cycle of that.
Recently, I was able to step on the European continent during Winter, and I finally got to have the first snow fall in my life.

Our footprints in the snow.

I wasn’t able to go around Cebu so much during my short stay there since most of the time were spent visiting relatives, many of whom I’ve met for the first time. So I haven’t seen a lot of Cebu, but the parts that I did see I found beautiful.
These were taken at Lapu-lapu Shrine:

Tags: Cemetery
My father has been dead for 22 year now.
I recently visited the grave he shares with his Dad, who passed away much later than him. (A father burying his own son - I think is still something that shouldn’t happen to any parent.)
Perhaps this is too gloomy for a summer day post, but there’s a story. After I placed a pot of flowers on their gravestone, I sat under the marble gazebo (I don’t know what else to call it) to rest and get away from the hot sun. The air was warm but the blowing wind gave some relief. It was an odd day to visit the place actually, a hot mid afternoon and the park was silent and still. It was, after all, a cemetery.
I was all alone in a vast plain of grass and dead people - and I actually loved it.

Well it would have been that if it weren’t for a very old man who was there before me, who sat under the shade and then decided to head to a grave some 10 meters away, and lie down on the grass.
